Firefly

You shine like a single, distant star,
Too small to light the world.
You fly and fly but you can’t get far,
It’s like you’re walking on the sun.
But I can see that you’ll only follow your own heart,
I wonder why you don’t give up.

Oh, I wonder how you can be so brave,
Aren’t you afraid of heartbreaks?
I wonder why the cold doesn’t make you shake,
Doesn’t your light ever fade away?
But I can see you dancing on and on,
I guess fear is not your way.

I guess it doesn’t hurt to fight a little harder
When you’re already on your way down,
I guess it doesn’t hurt to scream a little louder
When no one can hear a sound.
So keep dancing, my little firefly,
Don’t you burn out.

I guess it doesn’t hurt to take just a few more steps
When your feet have gone numb,
I guess it doesn’t hurt to try to change the end
When it has already come.
So keep dancing, my little firefly,
Don’t you burn up.

I guess there’s nothing wrong with living life
Just for the sake of living it,
I guess it’s not wrong to have a heart.
So make me brave, my firefly,
So I’m not afraid of heartbreaks.
Give my heart some warmth, my firefly,
So my light won’t fade away.
Oh, dance with me on and on, my firefly,
Because fear is not our way.
